CSEMS Highlights Organizational Restructuring

CSEMS LogoBeginning July 1, 2017, Central Shenandoah EMS Council has restructured its existing staff based on recommendations made by management and approved by the Executive Committee at their meeting on June 22, 2017.

This restructuring will eliminate 3 FTE’s by the end of FY18.  The Council will employ an Executive Director, Accounting Manager/AHA Training Center Coordinator and an Administrative Coordinator.  A copy of the new organizational chart can be found at the bottom of this post.  The Council will retain an EMS Training Specialist and BLS adjunct faculty for the next fiscal year until such time as all EMS educational programming is transitioned to Blue Ridge Community College.

  1. The Council will continue to contract with the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of EMS for services to include:
    • regional planning,
    • local medical direction through the Medical Control Review Committee (MCRC),
    • performance improvement monitoring,
    • regional protocol development,
    • Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) services,
    • operation of monthly Consolidated Test Sites (CTS),
    • conducting the Regional EMS Awards program,
    • regional RSAF grant support and grading, and
    • conducting regional Instructor Network meetings.
  2. The Council will continue to operate its American Heart Association Community Training Center. We will continue to offer CPR training courses as well as ACLS and PALS courses here in Staunton and at locations throughout the region as needed.
Accounting Manager/AHA Training Center Coordinator

We are delighted to announce that Laurie Cook has agreed to assume the role as the Council’s new Accounting Manager & AHA Training Center Coordinator.  Laurie has been a valued employee of the Council since the fall of 2012.  She bring s a wealth of experience to this new position and she is well-suited to pick up the duties of the AHA Training Center Coordination due to her years of experience working side-by-side with Chandra.  We look forward to Laurie’s continued service to the Council in this new and exciting role. Administrative Coordinator

Additionally, we are pleased to welcome Dawn Varner to a new full-time role with the Council as our new Administrative Coordinator.  Dawn has been a part-time employee of CSEMS since 2015 where she has assisted with Consolidated Test Sites, served as our Pearson VUE Test Center Administrator and then as a PRN Administrative Assistant helping fill in during vacations and assisting with tasks required by our educational accreditation.  Dawn will be responsible for answering the phones & greeting customers as well as creating invoices, accepting payments and assisting with AHA card and roster processing.  We would like to welcome Dawn to the ranks of our full-time staff here at the Council.  Dawn can be reached at: dvarner@vaems.org.
