The Central Shenandoah EMS Council proudly presents an accredited Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification program.  The program designed to train an individual to function independently in a medical emergency. This course provides the basic knowledge and skills needed to deliver Basic Life Support (BLS) care and is required to progress to more advanced levels of prehospital patient care. The course requires participation in an online classroom, 80 hours of mandatory hands-on skill training at the training center in Staunton and a minimum of 24 hours of field internship to achieve the minimum number of patient contacts.  Virginia certification requires successful completion of a standardized cognitive and psychomotor skills examination. This course is designed to train individuals to serve as a vital link in the chain of the health care team. This includes all skills necessary to provide emergency medical care as an attendant-in-charge with a basic life support ambulance service or other specialized rescue service.

Integrated Labs Version

The Integrated Lab course offers offers mandatory practical lab sessions conducted throughout the program on Monday evenings. The lab sessions are conducted at the CSEMS Training Center in Staunton, VA from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm on the following dates: May 21, 28, June 4, 11, 18, 25, July 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6, and 13, 2018. The psychomotor examination will be conducted August 15, 2018. A mandatory online orientation will be conducted via a webinar from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

Prerequisites

  • CPR certification required by orientation session. Specific CPR requirements are listed in the application information packet. This program will conduct mandatory CPR training on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the CSEMS Training Center in Staunton, VA.  Attendance is required by all students. See the Application Packet for exceptions.

Registration

Please read carefully… To apply for the EMT program, complete the application form below.  Following submission of the registration form, you will be contacted by an academic advisor who will provide you with additional information on the program, answer any questions you may have and provide an invoice for the program tuition.  Your registration for the program will not be complete and confirmed until the tuition is paid in full. 

Tuition

  • Affiliated Tuition: $500 (Affiliated Tuition – See page 9 of the Information Packet for eligibility)
  • Non-Affiliated Tuition: $800 (Non-Affiliated Tuition – See page 9 of the Information Packet for details)

The registration deadline is 12:00 PM (Noon) on Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

You are registering for the ONLINE Emergency Medical Technician program, Integrated Labs version. This program will be conducted in an online Learning Management System with on-site skill labs at the CSEMS Council Training Center.
