  • Current AHA BLS CPR Card upon registration email your AHA BLS CPR Card to Laurie Cook
  • Proficient BLS Provider Skills
  • Demonstrate Instructor Potential at an instructor potential skills session. You will be asked to demonstrate adult CPR/AED and infant CPR and take a written BLS CPR exam.
    • Skills session dates will be held at CSEMS, email Laurie Cook to schedule an IP Session.

AHA BLS CPR card, Instructor Candidate Application and proof of instructor potential must be received by 4:00pm on August 30, 2021 to participate in the course and receive course materials.

  • Alignment with an AHA Training Center (usually obtained at an IP skills session)
  • Complete the AHA Instructor Candidate Form (see below to download form)
  • Complete the online component of the course, BLS Essentials Course.  You will receive an activation key for the BLS Essentials Course once your registration and paperwork has been received.

Course cost: $425.00 (must be received to complete registration)

Cancellation/ Refund Policy:

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.  Cancellation fee of $75.00 will be charged to the participant.  No refunds will be issued to applicants withdrawing after August 30, 2021 There will no refund for no shows.

Course Materials:

Course materials are available from the Central Shenandoah EMS Office as registration forms are received and approved.  Materials required for the course include the BLS Instructor Manual, BLS Instructional DVD, BLS Provider Manual, HeartSaver Instructor Manual, and the BLS Essentials Online Course. Materials will be supplied to the candidate once registration has been submitted and all required documentation is received.

Special Needs:

The 1990 American Disabilities Act requires that all individuals, regardless of their disabilities, have equal access.  The Central Shenandoah EMS Council is pleased to assist participants with special needs.  Requests need to be made in writing at least 14 working days before the course.

*Use of American Heart Association materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association.  Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the Association.
