Highland County Employment Opportunity; Emergency Medical Services Chief


The County of Highland, Virginia is accepting applications for the position of Emergency Medical Services Chief.  This is a full-time position responsible for all administrative and operational aspects of Emergency Medical Services and responding to emergency medical calls as necessary.

High School diploma or GED.  ALS or Paramedic certification recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia or the ability to become certified within 60 days of employment.  Considerable experience in EMS preferred.  CPR and EVOC certifications required.  Virginia EMS Education Coordinator and Field Training Officer experience preferred.  ACLS, ICS certifications of appropriate level and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations certifications required within 12 months of employment.  Leadership and management training required within 12 months of employment.  Valid Virginia driver’s license and acceptable criminal and driving records.  Successful candidate will have the ability to interface and coordinate with a volunteer rescue squad.

Salary range:  $45,000 to $55,000 DOQ.  Complete benefits package including paid holidays/vacation/sick leave and Hazardous Duty Retirement.  Position open until filled.
