Virginia Office of EMS Welcomes Brandon Havens, as the Central Shenandoah EMS Technical Resource Specialist

You may have seen a new name and face pop up in your virtual meetings as he has wasted no time diving into regional projects. It is with great pleasure that we introduce to you our newest Virginia Office of EMS staff member at the CSEMS office, Brandon Havens, effective June 10. Brandon is the Technical Resource Specialist for the CSEMS office and serves as the subject matter expert in our EMS region surrounding the areas of accreditation, technology, system planning and grant writing/administration support.

Brandon is a 2016 graduate of Jefferson College of Health Sciences (JCHS) where he earned his B.S. in Health Sciences and Forensic Science. During his time at JCHS, he had the opportunity to be actively involved in community health projects in the Roanoke and New River Valleys and networked with many public health organizations. Additionally, he was afforded the opportunity to intern at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as part of his Forensic degree.

Prior to attending JCHS, he had various work experiences including technology administration and consulting, Emergency Medical Services, and ER Technician at a level 1 trauma center. Most recently Brandon served as the Senior Disaster Program Manager for the American Red Cross where he was actively involved with disaster preparedness, response and recovery as well as regional response planning. He is currently enrolled in a Master of Public Health program at Virginia Tech.
His background in technology administration, strategic planning, compliance and auditing, project management and system design as well as field implementation projects just scratches the surface of his experience that will be an invaluable asset to Virginia Office of EMS and CSEMS.

“It is a privilege being able to serve in this capacity and I’m looking forward to interacting and supporting the CSEMS area on multiple levels.”  — Brandon
